AI and Divorce

Why certainty, structure, and human judgment matter more than automation.

Artificial intelligence is changing many areas of online information and research. It can be helpful for general questions, brainstorming, and exploring ideas. But when it comes to something as personal, state-specific, and consequential as divorce, the current limits of AI become very real. And the future horizon of AI’s applications to usefulness in divorce does not appear nearly as imminent as it does in many other fields.

Divorce is not just a set of abstract rules. It involves unique lives, unique relationships, and very specific legal requirements that vary widely by state—and even by local court. In California alone, divorce involves precise forms, strict procedural steps, and timelines that must be followed carefully. Small errors or misunderstandings can cause significant delays or setbacks. Errors from incorrect information can be followed by poor choices which can lead to serious consequences.

At this stage in its development, AI is simply not reliable enough to guide people safely through that process.

AI tools are designed to sound confident, authoritative and helpful, even when the information they provide is incomplete, out of context, or simply incorrect. AI pulls from enormous volumes of online material—some of it from unreliable sources, much of it outdated, contradictory, misinformed, opinion-based or written for different jurisdictions entirely. As a result, people researching divorce through AI often receive guidance that sounds authoritative but is rarely comprehensive, not always correct, can be grossly out of context, or simply doesn’t apply to their specific circumstances, state or local jurisdiction.

This can be especially problematic in divorce, where accuracy matters and assumptions can cause real harm.

Beyond the legal complexity, divorce is also a deeply human experience. It’s emotional. It’s often messy. Life decisions don’t always follow clean logic, and people don’t move through the process in a rationally straight line. No algorithm can fully account for the nuance of a shared life ending, or for the emotional terrain people are navigating while trying to make practical decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.

Because of this, the GDC Portal was intentionally built without AI.

Rather than relying on technology that scans everything available on any given subject, guesses, averages, or improvises, the GDC Portal is carefully structured and hard-coded based on decades of real-world experience with uncontested California divorces. Every step, prompt, and workflow reflects what actually works in practice—what courts require, what couples need, and what keeps the process moving forward without unnecessary confusion or conflict.

There is no automated “hallucination,” no drifting advice, no hidden agendas, and no generalized guidance pulled from across the vast landscape of the internet. Instead, the Portal provides a clear workflow, a predictable path designed specifically for cooperative California couples who want to complete their divorce correctly.

The GDC approach is not a trending technology—but the GDC divorce Portal interface and code are absolutely unique, and it is uncompromisingly dependable.

AI will likely continue to evolve, and its role in many industries will likely grow over time. But when it comes to something as important as your divorce, certainty matters more than novelty. The GDC Portal exists to provide that certainty: a stable, proven system that prioritizes accuracy, clarity, and human dignity. Your divorce deserves a process that genuinely works.
